Guus Hiddink refuses to blame Chelsea loss to Swansea City on Antonio Conte announcement

Guus Hiddink has refused to blame Chelsea's loss away to Swansea City on Saturday on the club's announcement this week that Antonio Conte will become the new permanent manager in the summer.

The reigning Premier League champions confirmed on Monday that the Italy boss will take the helm at Chelsea once the European Championships in France ends.

Conte followed up the announcement by paying the Chelsea squad a visit the following day, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek subsequently admitting the players are eager to impress the 46-year-old between now and the end of the season.

Despite Loftus-Cheek's revelation, Chelsea succumbed to defeat away to Swansea on Saturday - which handed Hiddink his first league loss as interim boss of the Blues.

With much attention surrounding the impending arrival of Conte, Hiddink insisted after the 1-0 defeat that the Italian's impending arrival did not affect his team's concentration levels at the Liberty Stadium.

"I don't think so," Hiddink said when asked whether he believed the news about Conte coming to Chelsea may have been on his players' mind.

"What we did in the second half was good. I don't think they had it in mind to look to next season."
