Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo says confirmation that Harry Kane will not be leaving the club this summer is “fantastic news for everybody.”

Kane earlier on Wednesday ended speculation over his future by announcing he will be staying put, despite pushing for a move to Manchester City throughout the transfer window.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s Europa Conference League play-off second leg against Pacos, Nuno responded to the announcement.

“Great news. Fantastic news for everybody,” Nuno said. “We are all very happy. One of the best players in the world. We are all delighted to have one more option for the season ahead of us.

“I think since Harry joined us he has been working, so this is what we value. His attitude in training sessions has been great. It’s finished, Harry is going to be with us.

“He worked today, he is an option for tomorrow. Like I said, fantastic news for everybody.”

Kane announced in a statement on social media that he would be staying at Spurs “this summer” and insisted he was “100%” focussed on helping the club to success.

Nuno said he was not concerned about the potential of a fresh transfer saga in January or next summer, when Kane would have two years remaining on his contract, and said there should be no doubt about Kane’s motivation to play for his boyhood club.

“I am not worried at all. It’s day by day, he’s an option for tomorrow,” Nuno said.

“This is the only thing and this is my only thought, try and make the best decisions to help the team tomorrow and Harry is one of the options.

“I think it’s up to us and everybody, the player himself, to get his motivation. There should not be any kind of doubts in terms of motivation to play for Spurs. Amazing club, good team. We are in a process and we need everybody involved.”

Kane made a 20-minute cameo in the win over Wolves on Sunday and could make his first start under Nuno in Thursday’s visit of Pacos.

“We trained today, it was a fantastic session, all the boys involved who played the previous game,” Nuno added. “We sill have to decide the starting eleven for tomorrow.”
