Hector Bellerin says early Emirates Stadium exodus by Arsenal fans during Bayern Munich defeat 'really hurt'

Hector Bellerin says it "really hurt" to see so many of Arsenal's fans leave Emirates Stadium early during last night's chastening Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

The Gunners were already trailing 5-1 from the first leg but Theo Walcott's early strike ignited hopes that a comeback could be on the cards.

However, Laurent Koscielny's second-half red card stamped out any lingering hopes for the hosts as the Bundesliga champions scored five unanswered goals to claim a stunning 10-2 aggregate victory.

Large swathes of Gunners supporters did not stick around for the final whistle and Bellerin has admitted seeing empty seats during the latter stages of the game was difficult to take.

"Me especially I'm really hurt because to see the fans leave the stadium so early," Bellerin told BT Sport.

"We want them to be happy and we want them to be behind us.

"We need to try and make them happy with the rest of our season. We know we have the capacity and the potential and the players."

Arsenal have failed to progress to the quarter-finals for seven seasons in a row and Arsene Wenger is facing growing scrutiny over his personal future.

There is a two-year contract on the table for the Frenchman but hundreds of Arsenal fans staged a protest against their manager prior to yesterday's game.

Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez was also criticised on social media after appearing to be caught laughing on the substitutes' bench in the latter stages of what proved to be one of the Gunners' most embarrassing European exits.
