Hector Bellerin will return to Arsenal training on Thursday after receiving the all-clear from an MRI scan assessing his head injury sustained against Chelsea.

The 21-year-old was substituted after colliding with Marcos Alonso as the Blues defender scored the opening goal at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Manager Arsene Wenger admitted afterwards Bellerin “did not know the score” as he was led from the field but the Spaniard has recovered well and could be available to face Hull City on Saturday if progressing well in full training.

FA rules state a player cannot play again within 14 days of sustaining a serious head injury but club doctors have the final say.

Bellerin will not be risked if there are any uncertainties; Arsenal doctor Gary O’Driscoll was part of a working group tasked in 2014 with formulating new Premier League guidelines with regards to head injuries and concussions.

Arsenal currently occupy fourth position in the Premier League table, three points behind rivals Tottenham, and 12 behind leaders Chelsea.
