Hector Moreno has revealed that Luke Shaw did not blame him for the tackle that caused the Manchester United defender to suffer a broken leg, saying the incident was a "part of football".

Shaw required extensive treatment on the pitch for nearly 10 minutes during United's Champions League game against PSV earlier this month after Moreno performed a sliding tackle on him in the box, which the PSV defender was not penalised for.

Shaw was subsequently stretchered off with an oxygen mask and taken to hospital before United confirmed the 20-year-old had undergone surgery on his injury and would remain in hospital in Eindhoven to continue his recovery.

Soon after, Moreno insisted he never meant to hurt the full-back and then paid Shaw a visit in hospital with PSV coach Phillip Cocu last week.

And Moreno has now revealed that the Red Devils man did not blame him for the incident that led to his injury, and said Shaw had been "very kind" to him during their "difficult" meeting.

"What happened to Shaw was very unfortunate. I was just in shock," he told Metronieuws.

"I’m glad I was able to go speak to him. I went with Phillip Cocu to the hospital. That was very difficult at the beginning, but he was very kind to me and didn’t blame me.

"He had seen the images and said it was part of football. That made me smile."

Shaw confirmed in an Instagram post earlier this week he was returning to Manchester to continue his rehabilitation and thanked the staff at St Anna hospital for helping him through the surgery process.

"I just wanna say a massive thank you to everyone at St Anna hospital for all the care and attention they have given me the last few days," he wrote next to three pictures of him with medics.

"Something I will never forget! Am pleased to be flying back to Manchester today so I can start my journey back onto the football pitch!"
