'Hopefully we are done' - Jose Mourinho believes Chelsea have completed January transfer dealings

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes the club have completed their transfer dealings in the January window, despite failing to bring in a striker.

The 50-year-old is poised to sign Mohamed Salah from Basle, allowing Juan Mata to seal his move to Manchester United.

Salah’s arrival is expected to be concluded without hiccup and will mark Mourinho’s third acquisition of the transfer window, after Bertrand Traore and Nemanja Matic joined earlier this month.

"Hopefully we are done," the Chelsea boss said. "We are not bringing in a striker in this window."

Mourinho admitted he had only intended to bring Matic to Stamford Bridge in the mid-season window, but an irresistible Manchester United offer for club misfit Mata has freed up the funds to make further additions.

He continued: "We would only have done Nemanja this window if we hadn't lost a player (Mata), but we are trying to keep the level and improve, to improve the team, to improve the squad, to change the style of play.

"And we're still trying to get results and still trying to win matches.

"We need that mixture of young players growing up and experienced players giving stability to the team.

"We are doing that. You can see what we're trying to do. Nemanja is 26, Salah 21, so we are trying to build a team for the future.

"We're doing fine. We're calm. In relation to the domestic competitions, Man City is Man City, an unbelievable level.

"Arsenal have had eight years building this team, and this team is perfect. They're also a strong contender."
