England manager Roy Hodgson remains open to the prospect of signing a new contract with the national side and hopes the Football Association will honour his current deal regardless of results in Brazil this summer.

After signing a four-year contract in May 2012, Hodgson is contracted to lead the national side at least until the finals of Euro 2016 in France.

A disappointing World Cup this summer could lead to speculation over the 66-year-old’s future, but Hodgson remains focused on doing his best for England and avoiding an early exit from his spell as manager.

"I signed a four-year contract and I've always been working myself towards that four-year contract," Hodgson said.

"Whether contracts mean four years when you sign them or not, that's not anything to do with me. That would be other people's decisions.

"I shall be working hard to fulfil the contract and hope that the FA will fulfil their side of it.

"And another one after that? Who knows?"
