Andy Carroll feels he is finally up and running again for rampant West Ham after his brace helped down Swansea 3-1 at Upton Park on Sunday afternoon.

Carroll's first two goals of the season cancelled out Wilfried Bony's coolly-taken opener and, after Swans goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski was dismissed for fouling Diafra Sakho, the Senegalese notched a third for the Hammers.

The win propels West Ham above Southampton and Manchester United - who meet on Monday night - and up to third place in the Premier League table.

Former Newcastle and Liverpool striker Carroll had only managed four appearances this term having only returned from injury in November, and he admits scoring twice against the Swans has lifted a weight off his shoulders.

"It was a tough game and I was getting held a bit but we got the two goals and got the win," he told Sky Sports 1.

"It means a lot to the lads and it obviously means a lot to get back on the scoresheet.

"I've played a few games and I have felt like I am back but obviously, until you score, you don't feel you're definitely back and now I've got two today it means a great deal."

The east London club now trail second-placed Manchester City by only six points after following up victories over Newcastle and West Brom with their third win on the spin - a feat no other team has managed this week.

"It's great," Carroll added. "It's a massive boost.

"I think we're the only team to do that (win three games) so it's great for us as club to achieve that.

"Obviously you could see that the lads today fought back when we went 1-0 down, like we did against West Brom, and we won the game."
