Olivier Giroud has publicly apologised to his family and Arsenal following allegations that he allowed a glamour model into his hotel room the night before a Premier League match.

The married French striker denied taking FHM model Celia Kay to the Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf the evening prior to Arsenal's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

But after The Sun newspaper published photographs of Giroud apparently in the hotel room with just his underwear on, Giroud took to twitter yesterday to apologise.

He posted: “I apologise to my wife, family and friends and my manager, team-mates and Arsenal fans,” said Giroud. “I now have to fight for my family and for my club and obtain their forgiveness. Nothing else matters at the moment.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that the club was dealing with the apparent breach in team rules.

He said, following Sunday's 2-1 FA Cup win over Liverpool. "He has made a statement. For the rest we will deal with it internally. I want to respect his privacy.”
