Staying put: Andre Schurrle says he belongs at Chelsea
Simon Johnson11 December 2014

Andre Schurrle today insisted his long-term future is at Chelsea and has no interest in leaving Stamford Bridge.

Schurrle marked his first start for five weeks with a fine second goal in Chelsea's comfortable 3-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League.

The German international has been out of favour in recent weeks due to a mystery illness and a lack of form.

Speculation has increased in recent months that the club are preparing to sell him or even include the attacking midfielder as part of a swap deal with Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus.

But Schurrle told Standard Sport: "Of course I can just laugh all the talk of leaving off. I am not going to change the club in the transfer window.

"I am happy where I am, I am happy in London. I love the city, I love the fans. We have a great team and want to win something this season. This is where I belong and where I want to help. I know what the manager wants for me and that he likes me."

Chelsea v Sporting Lisbon - player ratings

1/14

Chelsea had already secured their place in the last 16 as winners of Group G, but success in their final match meant they went through unbeaten with an impressive 14 points.

Mourinho's side could face a nightmare draw in the next round though, with Paris Saint Germain, Juventus, Schalke, Shakhtar Donetsk or Bayer Leverkusen their possible opponents.

But the German international believes Chelsea, who made six changes last night, have the strength to not be concerned about anyone.

He added: "We can rotate and make changes and we still have so much quality on the pitch. We have a big squad - that's what we need for our four goals (of winning four competitions).

"We don't fear anybody. If we play our best we can beat everyone."
