Exit door: Lucas could leave Liverpool for Inter Milan this month

Roberto Mancini aims to make another raid on the Premier League by bringing Lucas Leiva to Inter Milan.

Inter have already signed Lukas Podolski on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season but Mancini believes he needs more solidity in midfield and has set his sights on Liverpool star Lucas, who turns 28 on Friday.

The development comes amid reports the Liverpool man could move to Serie A as part of a swap deal that would see Nemanja Vidic return to the Premier League.

Mancini is desperate to make Inter competitive again as quickly as possible and they are likely to be one of the busiest of Europe’s major clubs in this transfer window.

Inter hope to bring in Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich on loan for the rest of the season and believe they have the word of the player, even though reports in his native Switzerland suggest the 23-year-old would rather join Liverpool.
