It's absurd for Arsene Wenger to be upset with me, says Xavi

Xavi today hit back at Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in their row over Barcelona target Cesc Fabregas.

Wenger said the Barca midfielder had been "very disrespectful" for claiming Fabregas was suffering over the transfer saga.

"It seems absurd to me - I was only acting in the interests of Cesc and my club," said Xavi, who then tried to draw a line under the issue. "I really don't want to get into a war of words with Wenger."

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has said his club, who have had two bids rejected, would fight up until the August 31 transfer deadline to get their former Academy player.
