Jack Wilshere accepts Zante lads' holiday invite after World Cup snub by England

Jack Wilshere appears to be taking his World Cup snub well.

The midfielder, who missed the spring friendlies during to another injury setback, was not selected by Gareth Southgate as part of England's 23-man squad or five-man standby list.

Southgate reportedly broke the news to Wilshere via a phone call on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday's confirmation, and the Arsenal man is acting quickly to put the disappointment behind him.

But Wilshere is already putting alternative plans into action by accepting an invitation for a lads' holiday in Zante.

So will he be getting on a plane this summer, just not the one he expected.

Twitter user Will Palacios extended the invitation, writing: "I know you're not off World Cup so fancy coming Zante with me and the lads let me know sound x"

Wilshere joked that he will check is now far more empty calendar.

"Let me know the dates and I'm in," he joked, before adding: "Can I bring the baby aswell?"
