Nikica Jelavic is poised to leave West Ham as they look to free up funds for a January signing.

The striker joined from Hull City last summer but his first-team opportunities have been limited.

Jelavic scored his first Hammers goal as they beat Wolves in the third round on Saturday, but it has done little to convince the club to keep faith with the former Croatia international.

West Ham chief said last month the club won't have 'a penny' to spend on January transfers unless someone departs to free up space on the wage bill.

And Jelavic's exit would create the funds needed to facilitate West Ham bids in the winter window.

Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande are favourites to sign the 30-year-old while West Ham have been linked with moves for Leeds right-back Sam Byram and Juventus striker Simone Zaza.

Another possible departure is Argentine striker Mauro Zarate, who is wanted by Malaga.
