Jay Tabb's Festival non-starter

Ian Gibb11 April 2012

Even if Reading beat Queens Park Rangers tonight, race horse owner Jay Tabb will resist the temptation to celebrate at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Reading midfielder and his team-mates have been given tomorrow off but he said: "We've had so many matches recently that going to Cheltenham is too long a day. You get the train there, you can't help but have a few Guinnesses and by the time you've got back it's tough with training the next day."

Tabb has a share in Bobby Gee, which is running in Saturday's totejackpot Novices Handicap Chase at Uttoxeter.
