Goalkeeper Joe Hart has signed for Tottenham, penning a two-year deal with the club.

The 33-year-old England international arrives on a free transfer after leaving Burnley at the end of last season.

The 75-cap England international is expected to compete with Paulo Gazzaniga as understudy to Jose Mourinho’s No1 goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris following the departure of Michel Vorm.

Hart will also provide another homegrown option for Mourinho heading into the new season.

Spurs have struggled with the balance between homegrown and overseas players in recent seasons, with Mourinho forced to leave Victor Wanyama out of his Champions League squad earlier this year.

Hart becomes Tottenham's second signing of the summer after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who joined the club for £15 million from Southampton.

Hojbjerg only had one year left to run on his contract and after indicating he would not renew his deal, Spurs were able to sign the midfielder for a cut-price fee.

Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters has moved in the opposite direction for £12m after the 22-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at St Mary's.
