John Terry may not meet Fabio Capello over England captaincy

Andy Hodgson11 April 2012

Fabio Capello's 'meeting' with John Terry tonight is now in doubt after the England manager failed to speak to Rio Ferdinand at Old Trafford last night.

Capello told journalists on Monday that he would talk to Ferdinand, Terry and Steven Gerrard on consecutive days this week about his plans for the England captaincy.

He strongly hinted that Terry would be handed back the armband permanently, 13 months after being stripped of the role.

Sources close to Capello insist that no final decision has been made and that the Chelsea skipper would only be in charge for the Euro 2012 qualifier in Wales and the friendly against Ghana, with both Ferdinand and Gerrard missing because of injury.

But the Manchester United defender is unhappy with how the affair has been handled and the mooted meeting with Capello before last night's Champions League match with Marseille did not take place as both were seated in different parts of the ground.
