John Terry has signed a new one-year contract at Chelsea, the club have announced today.

The Blues confirmed via their official website that their long-standing captain has put pen to paper on the extension, which was offered to him by the club last week.

Following Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Sunday, Terry told fans he wanted to stay at the club but needed a few days to consider the offer. However, he has now accepted the deal.

Speaking about the extension, the 35-year-old told Chelsea's official website: "I am delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Everyone knows I'm Chelsea through and through.

"I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one.

"Also, a special mention to the fans for their continued support. You’re the best in the world."

Retaining Terry will maintain continuity with the Blues next season as incoming coach Antonio Conte looks to lead Chelsea to Champions League qualification as well as hauling the club back into contention for the Premier League and Cup competitions.
