Jol is aware of surface tension

Fulham boss Martin Jol is worried one of his team could suffer an injury on Crusaders' new artificial pitch in their Europa League tie tonight.

As a midfielder with West Brom and Coventry, Jol had no worries about playing on artificial surfaces, such as those at Luton and QPR, but will be anxious if one of his men fall awkwardly in Belfast. "In a squad of 28, 29 players you will always have a few who are carrying injuries and don't like to play on it," said Jol ahead of the opening leg of the second-round qualifying tie.

"I liked playing on artificial pitches like at Luton because you could keep the ball but we have seen players suffer knee and ankle injuries in the past and they don't prefer it."
