QPR midfielder Jordan Cousins picked up a hamstring injury in defeat to Derby to add to Ian Holloway’s woes.

The 22-year-old has been a regular presence in the R’s midfield since his summer arrival and had been in impressive form before limping off after 77 minutes, with Tom Ince finding the game’s only goal soon after.

Cousins had started six of QPR’s last seven games but it may be some time before the midfielder is again, with his manager now sweating over the results of medical assessments.

Holloway said: “Jordan has done his hamstring, which is a massive disappointment. We will assess it over the next few days.”

Of particular concern for QPR is a lack of goals, with the last four matches seeing Holloway’s side find the scoresheet on just one occasion.

Ince’s 86th minute strike was the difference for Derby but it was their goalkeeper Scott Carson who was pressed into action the most at Loftus Road, with QPR registering five shots on target to their visitors three.

An improved display was some cause for comfort for Holloway even as his side sit just three points clear of the Championship drop zone in 18th.

“It was a bitter pill for the lads to swallow but I am thoroughly delighted with the performance,” he added.

“We’ve improved in every game. When we got three points against Norwich we were nowhere near as good. We’re on a bad run but they were brave and passed the ball. We did really well apart from in the final third.”
