Championship outfit Brentford have signed Josh McEachran from Chelsea for an undisclosed fee, reported to be £550,000.
The 22-year-old, who made a total of just 22 senior appearances for the Blues after making his debut in 2010, has agreed a four year contract with the Griffin Park outfit.
With regular game time beyond him at Stamford Bridge, the midfielder spent spells on loan at Swansea City, Middlesbrough, Watford, Wigan Athletic and Vitesse in an effort to prove his worth to Jose Mourinho's side, but ultimately failed.
Meanwhile, Bees head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen believes the former England Under-21 will thrive in his new surroundings.
"Josh is a versatile midfield player who can play in a holding role and as a playmaker," said the Dutchman.
"He was a big talent at Chelsea and now I look forward to working with him and our coaching staff in order to take Josh on to the next level.
"Although he played at Vitesse last season, he has good experience of English football and will be able to fit into our playing style very quickly," Dijkhuizen added.
Brentford lost to Middlesbrough in the Championship semi-final play-offs last season after a fifth place finish and will be hopeful that they can challenge for promotion once again next season.
