Harry Redknapp believes Jurgen Klopp has a 'good chance' of leading Liverpool into the top four but has warned the club that he might not necessarily be a success at Anfield.

The 48-year-old has been installed as the favourite to replace Brendan Rodgers on Merseyside after the Northern Irishman was sacked in the wake of Sunday's 1-1 draw with Everton.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager is believed to have been offered a three-year deal to take control of the Premier League club, who are keen to appoint Klopp in time for next Saturday's trip to face Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Several figures in the game are adamant Klopp represents a good fit for what is required at Liverpool, but Redknapp has used Dortmund's seventh place finish in the Bundesliga last season as a reason why the German might not be the right man for the job.

"Jurgen Klopp - I don't know - he did well but they had a nightmare last year and almost finished bottom of the league because they lost a couple of good players," he told Kicca.

"Klopp will go in there, there's a good group of players and they're capable of finishing fourth.

"He's got a good chance because he's going to a fantastic football club.

"But put him in at Sunderland now and see if he can do the job there; it would be a different story."

Redknapp also believes that Rodgers could have helped Liverpool reclaim their place in the top four this season, if he had been given more time.

"They're never going to get a better opportunity and Brendan could have got them top four.

"Chelsea are having an nightmare; there's no two ways about it. Suddenly there's every chance you can finish above Chelsea this year.

"There's three runners; Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea."
