Kai Havertz is open to leaving Germany amid transfer interest from Manchester United, along with links to a host of other top European clubs.

Standard Sport understands that Havertz is on United's summer shortlist with the likes of Jack Grealish and James Maddison as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks to add more creativity to his midfield.

The 20-year-old is already a seasoned Bundesliga star for Bayer Leverkusen, becoming the youngest player to reach 50 and then 100 appearances in the German top flight.

The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, while United will be watching any developments closely.

Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in Havertz, and would no doubt be among the favourites for his signature - but the playmaker says nothing is yet decided regarding his future.

Speaking to Bild, Havertz said of the transfer speculation: "I often wonder about all the things people allegedly know about me."

And the attacker has offered the likes of United and Liverpool hope, adding: "I am ready to make a big step and I like challenges. That includes abroad.

"Leverkusen are a great club, I feel good - I have always said that.

"But of course I want to take the next step in my career at some point. That's my ambition."

Leverkusen failed to make it out of the Champions League group stages this season.

They dropped down into the Europa League, and beat FC Porto 5-2 in the round-of-32 to set up a last-16 tie with Rangers - and a goal from Havertz helped Leverkusen taken a 3-1 first-leg victory from Glasgow.

Leverkusen sit fifth in the Bundesliga table, so must either improve their position or win the Europa League to secure Champions League football next term - and that could have a huge impact on whether Havertz is sold this summer.
