Kalou's now out to net a new deal

Talks: Salomon Kalou in action against Genk last night
11 April 2012

Salomon Kalou is close to agreeing a new Chelsea contract but wants to be reassured by boss Andre Villas-Boas that he will play more regularly.

Kalou came off the bench to score Chelsea's fifth goal last night in what was his first appearance since he conceded a late penalty against Valencia two weeks ago. The Ivory Coast international has started just three matches this term.

Kalou's current deal expires at the end of this season and he said: "We're still talking and I think that we're all going to agree on something good.

"Chelsea are looking forward to the future and my future can be here. I hope to be able to play more because otherwise how are you going to improve? It's important to push yourself to the limit. That's what I'm looking for.

"I hope to play more. I can push myself, train hard and come in if I have the opportunity and score. The rest is normal. The manager picks the team and every player respects the decision."
