Kick It Out are investigating claims that a member of the Watford Under-19 team was racially abused during a youth tournament played in Italy after they walked off the pitch.

Watford were trailing 1-0 against Latina Calcio in the Wojtyla Cup, a competition also featuring the likes of Roma and Lazio, when a tackle from a Hornets player sparked an altercation between the two sides.

A player on the Latina bench was then sent off by the referee before the game restarted. Shortly after, Watford’s youth team coach Dave Hughes instructed his players and staff to walk off the pitch.

Footage from a video posted on YouTube shows the linesman waving his flag and sprinting over towards the bench with relation to an incident off-screen.

A Kick it Out spokesman confirmed: "We are making enquiries to establish the full facts surrounding an alleged racist incident which took place in the 'Wojtyla Cup' fixture between Watford Academy and Latina Calcio."
