Whilst Arsene Wenger's squad prepare for their showpiece friendlies at this weekend's Emirates Cup a trio of sidelined defenders are set for a more low-key pre-season fixture.
All three of Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy and Carl Jenkinson have been placed in Steve Gatting's squad to play at National League South side Boreham Wood whilst their team-mates are preparing for Emirates Cup ties against Benfica and Sevilla.
They will join a clutch of youngsters including Under-21s captain Krystian Bielik, French playmaker Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Chuba Akpom, another whose future at Arsenal appears bleak after several ill-fated loan spells in the Championship.
The full-back trio are all free to leave the club but so far Arsenal have struggled to find takers for any of Gibbs, Debuchy and Jenkinson.
England international Gibbs has been eyed by a host of Premier League teams but both Watford and West Brom have withdrawn from the race for the 27-year-old, valued by Arsenal at £15million with one year to run on his contract.
Debuchy was publicly put up for sale by Wenger in January after accusing his manager of lying over a proposed move to Manchester United. Jenkinson was also made available in the same window.

Jenkinson's Arsenal deal, understood to be worth around £45,000-a-week, expires in 2020 whilst Debuchy is out of contract a year earlier.
Arsenal's fixture at Boreham Wood's Meadow Park will mark the opening of the club's redeveloped pitch, with Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis possible attendees at the opening ceremony.
