Kurt Zouma has admitted he has no issues with playing at left-back for Chelsea after being deployed in the unfamiliar position during the Blues' friendly win over Barcelona on Wednesday.

Zouma, a central defender by trade, played in the heart of Chelsea's defence for 62 minutes of the International Champions Cup game in Washington before being switched to left-back after Cesar Azpilicueta was taken off.

The club are searching for a new left-back following the departure of Filipe Luis to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, but Zouma could be an option for Jose Mourinho after the 20-year-old revealed he felt at ease at being played in a different role.

"It is a new position for me, I played there only one time when I was at Vaulx-En-Velin, but I have to help the team and the boss put me at left-back and it was not a problem," he told Chelsea's official website.

"I just wanted to play and enjoy the game and the most important thing was that we win and I could help the team."

Zouma produced a strong performance for the Blues against Barcelona, which included providing the ball that allowed Eden Hazard to skip past three defenders and open the scoring in the 10th minute.

Luis Enrique's side later equalised through Luis Suarez and then took the lead when Sandro Ramirez scored in the 66th minute, but Gary Cahill restored parity with his late header.

The defender, however, was forced off immediately after scoring with a bloody nose and Zouma has revealed his admiration for his colleague for putting his body on the line to take the game to penalties, which Chelsea won 4-2.

"Gary sacrificed himself for the team and scored the goal," he said.
