Tottenham have confirmed that defender Kyle Walker-Peters has signed a new contract with the club until 2020.

Walker-Peters, 20, impressed on his Premier League debut in Spurs' 2-0 victory against Newcastle on the opening day of the 2017-18 season.

The versatile full-back, who played on the left side when England won the Under-20 World Cup in June, started at right-back at St James’ Park, making his first competitive appearance for his club.

Mauricio Pochettino revealed that Walker-Peters gave a dressing-room speech following his man-of-the-match display, saying: "I was very pleased [with Kyle], I felt he fully deserved to be man of the match. To play the way he played showed great maturity.

"In his speech after the game with his trophy [in the dressing room], he was so proud.

"You can see now how the team is, how the team love to stay all together, and it was a fantastic moment. I’m sure he will remember it forever."
