Lionel Messi goal: Watch Barcelona star's stunning Champions League strike vs Napoli... after he fell over!

1/35

Lionel Messi was quickly back to his brilliant best as Barcelona flew out of the blocks on their return to Champions League action.

The Argentine scored a magnificent solo goal to put the Catalan giants in charge of their Champions League last-16 tie against Napoli.

The first leg, played way back in February, had ended in a 1-1 draw in Naples, but Clement Lenglet’s early header put Barca ahead in the tie before Messi took centre-stage with a vintage effort.

Picking up the ball from Luiz Suarez wide on the right and 40 yards from goal, Messi set off towards the penalty area, weaving his way through three Napoli defenders with a mixture of quick feet and some fortuitous deflections.

As he squeezed into the box he looked certain to be crowded out, only to somehow engineer a low curling finish into the far corner as he fell over, Napoli ‘keeper David Ospina getting a touch but not enough to turn it round the post.
