Little bit of home comfort will ease Daniel Agger’s heartache

Daniel Agger hopes Liverpool can overcome their Wembley heartache to finish the season on a high.

The Danish defender is targeting victory in the club’s final two games of the campaign, starting at Anfield tonight with a rematch of Saturday’s FA Cup Final against Chelsea.

The two sides meet again just three days after Liverpool were denied their second domestic trophy of the season and Agger believes that gaining six points from their two remaining Premier League games will help the club to move on.

“There’s not much more to say right now. We are all just so disappointed,” he told the club’s official website.

“We have two games left in the season and we have got to try to win them. That is how we will start to move forward.”

Despite the club’s disappointing campaign, 27-year-old Agger feels that his side can draw some positives and mount a more serious challenge next term.

“Can we challenge the top teams next season? Yes, of course. We have moved forward a lot this season but right now the only feelings are of disappointment.”

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is determined to reward the club’s fans for their support, starting with victory tonight.

Liverpool’s home form has been poor, with the club picking up just five league wins at Anfield.

Dalglish said: “Everyone knows the home results haven’t been great this season.

“It would be a little bit of solace for the punters who have given us tremendous support throughout the season if we could get a win.”
