Liverpool player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Darwin Nunez brainless as Trent Alexander-Arnold shines

Liverpool were left frustrated once again as they drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Wilfried Zaha put the Eagles in front on the counter, before a brilliant strike from Luis Diaz equalised for the hosts.

The bigger story came in between those two goals though - Darwin Nunez was shown a straight red card for a ridiculous red card.

Here’s how Jurgen Klopp’s side rated at Anfield...

Alisson 6

Little chance with the goal and made brave block to deny Zaha second.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 8

Defensive weaknesses exposed at Fulham but brilliant going the other way here. Such a technician, who was sent into midfield after Nunez red.

Nat Phillips 5

A surprise name on the teamsheet with Matip and Konate injured and Gomez not ready to start. Let Zaha run for goal but had little hope of going with him.

Virgil van Dijk 6

Just about played Zaha onside for goal. Long-passing a joy.

Andy Robertson 5

One of his quieter nights going forward and replaced after hour-mark.

Fabinho 5

Beaten too easily by Eze, who launched counter-attack for Zaha goal.

Harvey Elliott 7

Sparky, albeit a touch indecisive in the penalty area. Went close on several occasions.

James Milner 6

Unable to offer much incision against low-block, but terrific beard.

Luis Diaz 7

Scored a brilliant goal to completely transform mood after Nunez red card.

Darwin Nunez 3

Missed a terrific early chance on the volley but things just seem to happen when a football goes anywhere near him. Unfortunately, he lost his head when it wasn’t. Brainless sending off.

Mo Salah 6

Steered wide from Alexander-Arnold cut-back, then flicked header straight at Guiata. So close to late winner.

Substitutes

Kostas Tsimikas (Robertson 63’) 6

Jordan Henderson (Milner 63’) 6

Brought drive to midfield as Reds pressed for winner.

Joe Gomez (Phillips 63’) 6

A solid presence after introduction, despite playing with virtually no cover outside him.

Fabio Carvalho (Elliott 79) 6

Volleyed wide late on with strike that would have taken the roof off.

Unused: Adrian, Van den Berg, Bajcetic, Clark, Keita
