Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain revealed he has been practising scoring goals similar to the wonder goal he netted in Liverpool's 3-0 Champions League win over Manchester City on Wednesday night.

With Jurgen Klopp's side leading the quarter-final first-leg clash at Anfield 1-0 thanks to Mohamed Salah's 12th-minute effort, Oxlade-Chamberlain doubled Liverpool's advantage in the most stunning way possible after unleashing a powerful, long-range shot that hurtled past Ederson and into the back of the net in the 20th minute.

The winger also scored a superb goal in Liverpool's 4-3 Premier League win over City at Anfield back in January.

And after Sadio Mane netted on Wednesday to help Liverpool win 3-0 at Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain admitted his sensational strike against Pep Guardiola's men is something he has been working on.

Speaking to BT Sport, the England international said: "It was a great start for us to go three up before half time, it set us up perfectly.

"The crowd, the atmosphere was unbelievable and that's why we started like we did.

"It was a good strike, it opened up for me and I have been working on that."

The only negatives for Liverpool were a groin injury to Salah and Jordan Henderson's late yellow card, which rules him out of the second leg at the Etihad Stadium next week.

And Henderson admitted he was disappointed with his booking, saying: "Our game is about working together as a team and we did that brilliantly.

"We all chipped in with the hard yards. It's only the first leg. I didn't make many fouls in the game so it's disappointing to miss out next week."

He added: "We knew the atmosphere would be brilliant and it was, and we made the most of that. Second half they came at us more, we dropped deep at times."
