Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has claimed he has returned from his lengthy suspension with a cooler head.
Suarez has scored three goals in two Premier League starts since completing a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.
The 26-year-old’s recent performances have been free of negative incident and he has vowed to put his controversial past behind him.
"I am aware that in recent matches that I played I've been calmer," said the Uruguay forward.
"I am very self-critical and I realised that playing well, with more tranquility, is helping me a lot.
"I realise and I prefer to continue and not be the same as before."
Meanwhile, club chairman Tom Werner hopes the Anfield club can secure Champions League football next season after fighting off competition to keep hold of Suarez in the summer.
The 63-year-old insists the controversial forward is a key component as Liverpool bid to propel themselves back among Europe’s elite.
"There was interest in him from other clubs throughout the summer but it was important for us to try to keep him,” said Werner.
"He is one of the great players of the world and we felt that we would be a stronger club with him than without him.
"That does not mean I don't respect his intense desire to play in the Champions League. But it would be a very happy day next May if and when we get to the Champions League by finishing in the top four and he is part of it.
"It is our intention to keep him for a while.
"Our intention is to build a winning club and he is integral to that. The past is the past and I have great affection for him personally."
