Arthur Melo has opened up on his lack of impact at Liverpool ahead of leaving the club in the summer.

The Reds signed Arthur on loan from Juventus for the season yet he only played 13 minutes off the bench against Napoli in the Champions League before suffering a serious thigh injury.

Since returning to training, the Brazilian midfielder has only occasionally made the bench and yet hopes to play again as a farewell to Anfield.

“Next season, I see it with good eyes,” he told Goal. “It will be decisive in my career and I am working very well. I’m looking forward to showing this new version of Arthur.

“Hopefully I have an option to say goodbye in Liverpool by playing something, to say goodbye to my team-mates, the technical committee and the fans, who have been very good to me.”

Arthur, 26, has praised Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool for how they have dealt with his difficult season, as he admitted that his role in the team has been filled since his hastily arranged deadline-day arrival.

“I would obviously like to be able to play more,” he said.

“But I can understand that the situation now is different from what happened when I arrived, because at that time the team had some needs and now it has others.

“But I have the peace of mind that when I talk to them and they tell me that no one has any complaints with me, quite the opposite.”
