Liverpool may well want to keep Raheem Sterling but the player seems to have made up his mind that his immediate future is away from Anfield.

Manchester City have made the first move with a bid worth up to £30 million, an "opening salvo" for a player valued at £50 million by his current employers.

But they will face serious competition, with the biggest sides in Europe, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, considering joining the Manchester sides and Chelsea. It seems certain that the young English forward will be very much in demand across the continent this summer.

One club unlikely to join the race for Sterling is Arsenal. Though Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the player their priorities lie in midfield and goalkeeper. Even a swap deal with Theo Walcott is unlikely. Though the FA Cup winner has just one year to run on his contract neither party is overly concerned about the player's future.
