Liverpool 4 Brighton 0: Mohamed Salah scores in rout that secures Champions League qualification

1/51

Mohamed Salah scored a record-breaking Premier League goal to help Liverpool secure a top-four spot and Champions League football as Jurgen Klopp's side beat Brighton 4-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool came into their final Premier League game of the season knowing that anything other than a defeat against Chris Hughton's already-safe Brighton side would render Chelsea's result against Newcastle useless.

And so it proved as Salah's 26th-minute opener not only handed Liverpool the lead but also meant he broke Luis Suarez's record to become the leading goalscorer, with 32 goals, in the English top-flight in a 38-game season.

Dejan Lovren then doubled Liverpool's lead with his fine header from Andy Robertson's cross before Dominic Solanke, who had set up Salah for his opener, scored his first goal since joining the Reds from Chelsea last summer after latching onto his Egyptian teammate's pass and firing in a thunderous effort.

4 Liverpool 38 21 12 5 46 75

With Chelsea losing 3-0 to Newcastle at St. James' Park, Robertson made it 4-0 to Liverpool - which means the Reds end in fourth spot and will be playing in the Champions League next season as Antonio Conte's men will have to be content with Europa League football.
