Liverpool XI vs Benfica: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Champions League game

Marc Mayo5 April 2022

Liverpool have a fully-fit squad to choose from for tonight’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg trip to Benfica.

The Portuguese side have already knocked out Barcelona and Ajax in this year’s competition but the Reds will fancy their chances at Estadio da Luz.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was deemed “fully fit” by Jurgen Klopp for Saturday’s win over Watford yet remained on the bench having only just returned from a hamstring injury. He comes back into the lineup tonight.

Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz were named on the bench for that Premier League game after returning from international duty and both come in to join Mo Salah in attack as Diogo Jota drops to the bench.

Naby Keita has been back in training after a knee injury and starts alongside Thiago and Fabinho in midfield, with Jordan Henderson only on the bench.

Klopp said on Monday: “The full squad is available. Curtis had a little swelling, which disappeared overnight. Trent has now trained for four, five days so is ready as well.”

Liverpool starting XI: Alisson, Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Keita, Thiago, Mane, Diaz, Salah.
