Liverpool XI vs Leicester City: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and Covid latest for Premier League today

Jonathan Gorrie28 December 2021

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad is strengthened by the return of Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho from Covid absences for this evening’s meeting with Leicester.

While the draw to Tottenham last weekend was somewhat disappointing, the duo should provide Klopp with a much more solid base.

Thiago Alcantara is also out of his isolation period after testing positive for Covid, though he is not risked by his manager.

The attacking trio of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota all start up front, while Konstantinos Tsimikas comes in to replace the suspended Andy Robertson.

Joel Matip is favoured over Ibrahima Konate as Van Dijk’s centre-back partner, while Naby Keita is on the bench with Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain trusted alongside Fabinho in midfield instead.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Matip, Tsimikas, Fabinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Salah, Jota, Mane

Subs: Kelleher, Konate, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Gomez, Jones, Beck, Williams
