Mohamed Salah admits he may have been considered "crazy" for setting his sights on winning the Premier League title following his move to Liverpool.

But the Egyptian has promised to give his all in pursuit of that dream having helped put Jurgen Klopp’s team in a position of strength ahead of what is sure to be a thrilling run-in.

The Reds trail Manchester City by virtue of goal difference but have a game in hand as they look to claim to their first league championship in 29 years.

Asked about the prospect of ending that lengthy drought, Salah told ESPN Brasil: "It's a dream, to be honest.

"It was one of my dreams when I came - to win the Premier League. Maybe the people were saying it was crazy, but it was in my mind always to come here and win the Premier League.

"I said it last season, I said it at the beginning of the season and now we are close. I hope we are going to win it. We will do our best to win it."

Much has been made of Liverpool’s need to overcome the mental barrier of their desperation to bring the league title back to Anfield.

But for Salah, the pressure is no different now than at the start of the campaign, when every fan would have hoped for the current situation.

He added: "Of course there is pressure because you are a human being, you feel that and you want to win the Premier League - something huge for the club, the city, the fans everywhere. But you just need to win the game.

"Now it's more because you're just close to the end, so there is more pressure. But at the end of the day, the next game, the three points, is very important, like the first game of the season.

"But the people don't take it like that. They take it like: 'OK, there's a pressure now'. But in the beginning of the season you need to win the game to get the three points to be here now.

"So now you are top of the table or second and you have one game in hand, so you just need to be calm and play football."

Salah netted an incredible 44 goals in an unforgettable debut season at Anfield following a summer 2017 move from AS Roma, and already has 20 to his name this term.

Probed on whether joining the Reds has worked out even better than he imagined, the 26-year-old said: "Yeah, I can say that at the moment.

"Everything I felt now, I already had in my mind before. It's something I expected. Sometimes it's more than what I expect but I'm happy about that."
