Loic Remy calls on Chelsea to improve or face relegation fight

Improvement: Loic Remy says Chelsea must look at their performances if they want to turn their season around

Loic Remy has warned his Chelsea teammates they will remain near the relegation places if they do not improve their Premier League form quickly.

Jose Mourinho's side currently sit in 16th place in the top-flight standings - just one point above the drop zone - after suffering their ninth loss of the season in a 2-1 defeat away to Leicester City on Monday night.

The result has thrown Mourinho's future in doubt, the champions' chances of securing a top-four finish seemingly out of the window and serious question marks about Chelsea's ability to resurrect their season.

And Remy, who scored the Blues' consolation goal after being brought on as a substitute against Leicester, has admitted the whole team must now look at their individual performances and up their game to get the club's season back on track.

"We are disappointed because of the loss but also because we need to play much better to win a game," Remy told Chelsea's official website.

Player Ratings: Leicester City vs Chelsea

1/22

"It’s difficult to pick one or two players who were better than any others. All the team need to improve; we need to be ready and play better.

"We have to try to be more compact, not make any mistakes and score goals, that’s the main thing. We have to improve otherwise we will stay near the bottom of the table and Chelsea are not in the right position.

"Nobody believes it because we were champions last year. The season is long and we have time to get better, I really believe that will happen soon. We have to try to win games.

"The situation is really tough but as a group we have enough quality to come back. We need one or two wins to get our confidence back and I’m sure we will do that in the games coming."

He added: "The manager makes his decision and picks 11 players. Whoever is playing tries to give their best and it’s the same for the substitutes, but at the moment it’s not enough and I don’t know why."
