West Ham have completed the signing of Spanish forward Lucas Perez from Arsenal on a three-year deal.

The 29-year-old striker has made the switch across London after failing to convince Unai Emery he could make a major contribution to the Gunners next season.

Lucas, who has made only 11 Premier League appearances since joining Arsenal for £17.1million from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2016, is keen to show his worth in English football and a move to West Ham swiftly became his preferred option once Manuel Pellegrini’s side expressed an interest in him.

The signing, understood to be worth an initial £4m with further potential add-ons, takes West Ham’s spending for the summer beyond the £100m mark as Lucas joins an attack already well stocked following the additions of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Jack Wilshere.

Lucas spent last season on loan at hometown club Deportivo La Coruna but was unable to save the Galicians from relegation, netting just six goals in 32 La Liga appearances.
