Crystal Palace face competition from Lyon for Juventus defender Patrice Evra.

Lyon are looking for an experienced defender and additional depth at left‑back and the France international fits the bill.

Palace are also interested but Lyon have a slight advantage in that the former Manchester United defender is keen to finish his career in France.

It comes after Sam Allardyce revealed Palace had moved on to second-choice targets after failing to land players at the top of his wishlist.

Allardyce said: "I've had that many players on my desk the last two weeks, looked at that many reports, watched so many games, that in the end we got them to file all that (list of players) down.

"The ones we've already done that on are not coming now, so we're down to the next level on what's available and who might come.
