Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola raged at Wigan coach Paul Cook and referee Anthony Taylor in the DW Stadium tunnel following Fabian Delph's controversial red card.
With the scores level in Monday night's FA Cup fifth-round replay on the stroke of half-time, Delph flew into a challenge and Max Power to leave the Wigan player in agony on the turf.
Referee Taylor initially took out a yellow card and appeared set to book Delph - writing down information on the back of the card - but with furious Wigan players surrounding him, the match official deemed the challenge worthy of a straight red card.
Guardiola and Cook clashed on the touchline before Taylor blew the whistle for half-time, but the Manchester City coach's fury continued behind the scenes.
With the DW Stadium equipped with a tunnel camera for rugby league side Wigan Warriors, BBC Sport's images showed Guardiola passionately arguing with Cook as both sets of players and coaches headed for their respective changing rooms.
The two coaches had to be parted by their staff, though Guardiola - still seething - saw his players off into the dressing room before jogging over to greet Taylor and the rest of his match officials as they entered the tunnel as a group.
Unless the FA decides to rescind Delph's red card, the City defender will miss three huge games: the EFL Cup final against Arsenal next, Sunday, a Premier League tie against the Gunners the following Thursday, and another top-flight clash against champions Chelsea.
