Man United 4-0 Liverpool: Erik ten Hag era begins with a bang in Bangkok pre-season friendly

1/22

Manchester United brushed Liverpool aside in Bangkok on Tuesday as the two rivals kicked off pre-season in Asia.

Goal from Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial has United cruising with just 33 minutes on the clock as fans got to see Erik ten Hag's side in action for the first time.

It was a good first impression, with a high-pressing approach running Liverpool ragged before 10 half-time changes saw the tempo slow.

Sancho was first on the scoresheet after just 12 minutes, sweeping home the ball across Alisson after Bruno Fernandes' cross wasn't cleared.

Liverpool's young defence were struggling with the lively United attack and soon found themselves 2-0 down then another cross was only cleared as far as Fred, who chipped Alisson from 25 yards.

It was 3-0 just minutes later when, again, a Liverpool full-back was exposed to allow Martial to run through and dink a shot over the goalkeeper.

The second half was a calmer affair but the crowd were treated to appearances from Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and new signing Darwin Nunez for the final half an hour.

Facundo Pellistri completed the rout with 10 minutes to go, after fine work from Amad Diallo in the build-up, with a smart finish inside the area.
