Manchester United player ratings vs Fulham: Bruno Fernandes and Andre Onana to the rescue for Erik ten Hag

Goalkeeper keeps his side in it at Craven Cottage before captain produces a stoppage-time winner to ease the pressure on his boss

Manchester United put two defeats in a week behind them as they left it late but beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage to ease the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.

Harry Maguire was offside in the build-up to an early goal scored by Scott McTominay, with the effort disallowed after a lengthy VAR review.

Fulham were the more dangerous side in both halves, but United snuck a late win thanks to some outstanding goalkeeping by Andre Onana and then a stoppage-time goal scored by Bruno Fernandes.

Dom Smith was at Craven Cottage to rate the United players’ performances…

Andre Onana 8

Saved Manchester United again, and finds himself in magnificent form after a tough start to life at the club. Parried superbly from Harry Wilson and Joao Palhinha.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 7

Always tried to play forwards and was defensively astute.

Harry Maguire 7

Showed his aerial prowess with a number of clearances, and played some precise long passes into the channel for the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund.

Jonny Evans 6

Solid at the back, not affording Fulham's attackers a moment's rest.

Diogo Dalot 6

Defended well on the left flank - a departure from his woeful display in Wednesday's heavy Carabao Cup defeat by Newcastle. Booked.

Scott McTominay 6

A physical presence in the middle of the park, and helped to dispossess the livewire figure of Alex Iwobi.

Christian Eriksen 7

A good display from the Dane. Has been criticised for his general level of performances since joining United, but filled in for the injured Casemiro responsibly here.

Bruno Fernandes 8

Saw plenty of the ball. Put team-mates into play, came close with a well-struck free-kick late on, and then fired the winner in stoppage time.

Antony 6

One of his better displays this season, with some nice close control. But this is a results-driven business and his end product still lacks.

Rasmus Hojlund 6

Ran the line well and linked play from the centre-forward position, without having any chances of his own.

Alejandro Garnacho 6

Made one really silly error and was booked for fouling his man in the recovery, but was otherwise bright and assisted United's disallowed goal.

Subs

Facundo Pellistri (Antony, 64') 6

Fairly anonymous after coming on, but assisted the winner.

Mason Mount (Eriksen, 79') N/A

Anthony Martial (Hojlund, 79') N/A

Raphael Varane (Garnacho, 90+3') N/A

Not used: Bayindir, Amrabat, Reguilon, Mainoo, Mejbri
