Paul Pogba admits he may change his controversial penalty style after declaring himself 'lucky' to score following his missed spot-kick in Manchester United's win over Everton at Old Trafford.

Pogba and Anthony Martial netted either side of half-time as United emerged 2-1 victors against Marco Silva's Everton side, although Gylfi Sigurdsson's penalty brought a nervy conclusion to Sunday's game.

Martial won a penalty after referee Jonathan Moss deemed Idrissa Gueye had fouled the French winger despite winning the ball, and Pogba put a finger to his lip after slotting home at the second attempt after Pickford impressively denied the penalty that came at the end of a long, stuttered run-up.

Pogba then set up Martial for United's second goal after the break, but the midfielder sloppily gave away the ball before Chris Smalling took down Richarlison to allow Sigurdsson to set up a grandstand finish.

Regarding his missed penalty, Pogba told Sky Sports: "I was lucky, the important thing is it went in and I scored the goal, good for us and me.

"After we carried on and had other chances, most important thing was the win."

Regarding his run-up - which has drawn the ire of fans and pundits alike, with two missed penalties already this season - Pogba added: "I always try and destabilize the keeper, maybe they know how I take penalties, maybe I should practice to change it, if the keepers know my step."

United boss Jose Mourinho backed his midfielder, saying: "Pogba is a better penalty taker than myself. He has the courage to take it.

"Luka Milivojevic missed one and he took them today. I admire players who have the courage to take them.

"He wants to take them. Maybe he has to change his approach but I don't want him to change his mental approach. The keeper is also a good penalty saver so lets give credit to him. He showed that in the World Cup."
