Manchester City confident of finally resolving Samir Nasri deal

Hopeful: Mancini desperate to sign Nasri before window closes

Samir Nasri is still expected to join Manchester City despite the player's representatives causing a last-minute delay in the deal.

The 24-year-old looked set to complete a move to the Etihad Stadium last weekend after Arsenal agreed a £22million deal to allow the midfielder to leave north London.

However, Nasri's father Hamid and Alain Migliaccio and Jean-Pierre Bernes are demanding an additional £3m up front for their involvement in brokering the deal, taking the overall fee to £25m. City have initially baulked at the extra payment but are still hopeful of concluding the deal before Arsenal travel to Italy tomorrow afternoon for their Champions League play-off second leg against Udinese.

Nasri would be ineligible in European competition for City were he to play in that game - having been suspended for the last week's first leg - and boss Roberto Mancini said after yesterday's 3-2 win at Bolton: "If he plays in the Champions League [for Arsenal] it is a big problem. I don't know [if we would still sign him]. I'm sure we can close the deal."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is scouring the market in a bid to find reinforcements and has made an enquiry for Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila. The Gunners have been told the 21-year-old will cost around £12m.

Queens Park Rangers' new owner Tony Fernandes described manager Neil Warnock as "a special guy" after they bounced back from their opening day loss to stun Everton at Goodison Park.

A solitary strike from Tommy Smith in the 31st minute was enough to secure QPR's first win of the season and left Fernandes feeling optimistic about the future. "I think we can build something quite special at QPR. Let the results speak for themselves and let's step by step build something and the next step is to stay up," Fernandes said.

The Malaysian business tycoon has pledged to open his cheque book in order to improve the squad and Warnock is hoping to bring in "four or five quality players" before the transfer window closes.

Warnock was delighted to see his team chalk up their first victory of the season.

He said: "I asked them to give me everything, to fight for each other, and they did just that. That's all I ever ask for - to give me everything."
