Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has admitted that the role of a manger has changed significantly during his career and joked that he doesn't do 'anything' at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman began his coaching career at AZ Alkmaar in 1986 and spent spells in charge of Ajax, Barcelona, Netherlands and Bayern Munich before he took the reins at United last summer.
The 64-year-old is one of the most experienced coaches in world football and believes that he has had to learn how to delegate aspects of his job to others members of staff rather than take total control.
"I’m from a time where you [the manager] did everything," he told the Telegraph.
"Now I’m the manager and I have a sports science department, I have a scouting department, I have a medical department, I have assistant managers, I have assistant coaches.
"I don’t do anything - nothing! I delegate. I delegate, and I earn a lot of money [Laughs]."
Van Gaal's methods and brand of football have been questioned by several former United players this season but the Dutchman is adamant he is an innovator in regards to match preparation.
"I am also an innovator, and I have changed a lot in terms of preparing for games.

United are currently fourth in the Premier League table and two points adrift of pacesetters Manchester City ahead of Saturday's trip to Watford.
