Manchester United will kick-off their Premier League title challenge against Tottenham at Old Trafford on August 8th.
The club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward last month declared himself 'pleased' with Louis van Gaal's first season in charge at Old Trafford, as the Dutchman helped United back into the Champions League after a one-year absence.
But Van Gaal spent more than £150million bolstering his squad last summer and he is set to be given another bumper kitty in a bid to turn last season's fourth-place finishers into a title charge.
The 63-year-old will expect his team to hit the ground running next season after improving their summer schedule and says a repeat of last season's opening day defeat to Swansea simply 'cannot happen'.
Seriously challenging Chelsea for league honours will be United's priority next season and progress in the Champions League will be expected. given the money set to be invested.
