Manchester United pair in race to be fit

11 April 2012

Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are major doubts for Manchester United's clash with Blackburn tomorrow.

With Gary Neville also suspended, the Premier League holders are short of cover in their backline.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Hopefully we can get one or two fit but it's an uphill fight just now."

Jonny Evans and Wes Brown will be on red alert to stand in, as Ferguson demands an immediate reaction to last week's 2-0 defeat by Liverpool.

Jason Roberts has become the fourth Blackburn player to come down with suspected swine flu and is likely to miss the match.
